1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember you between pages or visits — for example, that you already answered the cookie banner. Similar technologies (localStorage, pixels) work the same way and are covered by this policy. Cookies cannot run programs, carry viruses, or read other data on your device; they are identifiers and flags, nothing more.
2. The categories we use
Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working — security tokens, load balancing, the session that carries an enquiry form. They cannot be switched off without breaking the site, which is why the law does not require consent for them. Preference cookies remember choices like your cookie consent ('cookies-accepted' in localStorage) so you are not asked on every page. Analytics cookies give us anonymised traffic counts — which pages are read, where visitors arrive from — used to improve content, never to identify you. We do not currently run advertising cookies, and we do not sell data to ad networks.
3. Specific cookies in use
The consent record 'cookies-accepted' is stored in your browser's localStorage until you clear it — values are 'true' (accepted) or 'false' (declined), set when you press Accept or Decline in the banner. CDN-delivered libraries (Tailwind CSS, AOS, FontAwesome) may set their own technical cookies governed by their providers' policies. Analytics, where enabled, use first-party identifiers with a 12-month maximum life. A current inventory is maintained by our technical team and available on request.
4. Third-party cookies
Pages that embed external content — for example the Google Maps frame on our contacts page — may set cookies belonging to that provider when the frame loads. Those cookies are governed by the provider's own policy (for Google, the Google Privacy Policy). Where feasible we load such content lazily so consent precedes the cookie. Social icons in the footer are plain links and set nothing until you click through to the network.
5. Managing your consent
The cookie banner appears on your first visit to the home page and offers 'Decline' and 'Accept' — declining sets only the strictly necessary cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data in your browser and revisiting; the banner will reappear. Browser settings can block cookies wholesale (each browser's help pages explain how); the site remains usable, though the banner preference and any remembered settings will not persist.
6. Analytics detail
Where analytics are enabled they record page URL, referrer, approximate geography (city level), device class and session duration under a randomised identifier. We do not enable user-ID tracking, cross-device tracking or advertising features. Raw analytics data is retained for 14 months then deleted or aggregated. You may opt out by declining cookies in the banner — the analytics code respects that signal.
7. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookie categories — for instance a marketing pixel in future — this policy will be updated and the banner will re-ask consent where the law requires. The 'last updated' date above is the version reference. Historical versions are available on request.
